496 new companies registered in Kerala


 

KOCHI: Thriteen public companies with a total authorised capital of Rs 34.45 crore and 483 private companies with total authorised capital of Rs 90.84 crore were registered in kerala during the period from April 1, 2010 to June 30, this year, according to S M Ameerul Millath, Registrar of Companies, Ernakulam. 


 

Out of this 35 were big size companies with total authorized capital of Rs 50 lakh and above. 


 

120 cases were filed for violation of various provisions of the Companies Act 1956 and an amount of Rs.2,78,000 was imposed as fine by the court against the Companies and Directors. During the period 104 companies were struck off, one was amalgamated and 31 companies changed their names. Two companaies were transferred from Kerala to other states and two companies were transferred from other states to Keral, a PIB press release said. 


 

Out of the 496 companies registered in Kerala during the period from April 1, 2010 to June 30, 2010, 168 were registered in Ernakulam. Thiruvananthapuram with 76 companies and Thrissur with 75 were next in the list. Least number of three companaies were registered in Wayanad. 


 

Maximum number of companies registered were related to manufacturing. Forty four companies for construction and 41 companies for wholesale trade were also registered. Least number of nine companies were registered for business in stock, share and securities etc. 


 

During the period from January 1st to March 31st this year 503 companies were registered in Kerala and out of this 178 were in Ernakulam. Whereas Thrissur with 87 companies stood second and Thiruvananthapuram 54 companies took the third place. Wayanad with four companies was the last. A maximum of 57 companies were registered relating to manufacturing. 43 each were registered relating to construction and chit. ONly eight companies registered for stock, shares, securities etc.
